Bio
As a native-born Texan from Tarrant County, I come from a long line of Texans in pursuit of opportunity. My family's Texas heritage is a source of great pride, instilled in me from a very young age. During my younger years, I excelled in art and demonstrated a natural talent. Unfortunately, at the time, an Art degree was not highly valued by my parents, so I opted for a business degree instead. After graduating, I made an unexpected shift into Multimedia, designing websites for a major international company. That's where I had the pleasure of meeting Bob Tavis, which reignited my enthusiasm for art.
After having been privileged with extensive academic and professional opportunities, I was confronted with the reality of market shifts, prompting a career change. I opted to pursue a medical degree, primarily motivated by the desire for job security. In retrospect, I perceive this decision as a sacrifice made for the welfare of my family, a sentiment that resonated profoundly during the pandemic. As a coping mechanism, I sought a creative outlet and discovered an affinity for watercolor painting. The symbiotic relationship between water and pigment brought me happiness and hope. I dedicated substantial time to experimenting with diverse colors and pigments. Encouraged by my family and friends, I began to explore opportunities for establishing my
self as an artist, including participating in juried competitions, showcasing my art, and accepting commissions. After conducting comprehensive research, I determined that the most effective strategy would be to fully immerse myself in the process, resulting in the establishment of Speckled Duck Studios and Amber Mullins Art.
